SEAL: Social Standards Exchange of Experience in Southeast Asia and Practical Learning

Program Structure

Background

Production in Vietnam

SEAL supports small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Southeast Asia with the implementation of social standards

Many SMEs are lacking information on this issue and thus have not yet come to realize the necessity of more sustainable production methods. They consider social management systems to raise unnecessary costs and underrate their medium-term advantages. On the other hand many SMEs in developing countries are lacking the financial ressources to cover start up costs such as external consultants until medium term cost effectiveness sets in.

SEAL Production Vietnam

To address this situation InWEnt developed the Social Standards Exchange of Experience in Southeast Asia and Practical Learning (SEAL) Programme. This programme of training and support aims at the implementation of social standards and the improvement of working conditions

SEAL is geared towards

  • Raising awareness to capture the interest of entrepreneurs and managers for socially responsible actions
  • Building the capacity of trainers and supporting institutions to pave the way for the establishment of sustainable consulting facilities on social management systems
  • Introducing Social Management Systems for implementation to selected SMEs
  • Ensuring communication: Promotion of networking and exchange among stakeholders
