Because keeping social standards is important for successful export
A rapidly growing number of enterprises acknowledge Corporate spcial Responsibility (CSR) and publicly account for the integration of social and ecologic aspects in their business policy.
On the one hand this happens due to public presure being put on on especially by powerful NGOs. Since consumers become more aware, a good reputation is getting increasingly important particularly for companies who do business on international level.
On the other hand, the implementation of social standards is of great interest for the enterprises since exerts positive impact on productivity and competitiveness. Social working conditions help to increase the productivity of employees, and a more efficient use of management systems is difficult particularly for small and medium enterprises (SME) in developing countries. But executing the change towards more sustainable methods of production is closely related with the company’s future competitiveness on international markets, since the commitiment to social and ecologic minimum standards more and more becomes a precondition for export to the EU or the supply of big companies.
