1.4 Objectives

The workshop was to provide information on the activities in the different SEE countries regarding the elaboration of Local Development Strategies (LDS) / Regional Development Concepts (RDC) according to EU rural development programmes.
The participants would exchange experiences and know-
ledge on the elaboration of rural development concepts and processes in their regions. The workshop was to provide information on further development and follow-up activities within different regional approaches. Furthermore it would provide information on transnational cooperation projects within the different European Programmes.

Expected outcome of the seminar
By the end of the regional seminar participants should be informed on:

  • activities in SEE countries on the elaboration of RDC/LDS
  • mandate, content, elaboration, procedures and assessment of a LDS/RDC
  • elaboration of further activities and follow-up in the participating countries/regions including transnational cooperation projects
more

Through this outcome, the seminar would increase participants’ abilities as initiators and multipliers on Regional Management in their respective organisations in order to improve the impact of development projects and programmes in their local and regional context.
Therefore, a close institutional co-operation and mix of participants from political decision-making structures, public administration and organisations from civil society and business community was envisaged.
