In December 2001, a 1st Agricultural Policy Forum for South Eastern Europe took place in Leipzig. Six years have passed since, and the idea of the forum has turned into a success story.
A 2nd conference was organized in 2004 and the 3rd conference was held in Dresden in November last year. The forum was titled “Agricultural Policy Forum 2007 on Agricultural and Rural Development Policies - Challenges for Institutional Set-up and Co-operation in South Eastern Europe” It proved its capability as a platform for capacity building, policy dialogue and interregional exchange of experience regarding agricultural and rural decision making and implementation processes in the region.
Commissioned by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Agricultural Policy Forum 2007 was developed and accomplished by InWEnt, Capacity Building International, Germany and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH. The Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Central and Eastern Europe (IAMO) and The Standing Working Group for Regional Rural Development in SEE (SWG) joined InWEnt and GTZ in developing and coordinating this conference.
